Upgrade of ATM systems in Sweden

15 May 16:05

In May and June there will be a system upgrade in LFV's TopSky (COOPANS) ATM systems. The upgrade is a minor technical upgrade to support introduction of new surveillance sensors into our ATM system.

The upgrade will take place during the night between the 19th and 20th of May 2017 for systems in Stockholm ATCC and connected TMC´s/TWR's, and the night between 7th and 8th of June in Malmö ATCC and connected TMC´s/TWR's.

When traffic allows, preliminary around 22:00 UTC, LFV will switch to the fall-back systems and start the upgrade which will take around two hours. During the fall-back system operations it might, in order to maintain safety, be needed to temporarily decrease the capacity. It is our outmost goal to limit the impact by monitoring the predicted traffic volumes and only set restrictions if needed.

The commission is a regular software update. For the adjacent ATS units this means no related technical changes or changes of procedures. Test flight plans will be sent to certain ATS. When TopSky systems are online again, we will return to normal capacities and operations.
