Renewed commitment to the modernisation and digitalisation of European air navigation services

Today in Brussels, the SDIP members – Airlines, Airports, ANSPs and EUROCONTROL – renewed and signed their joint commitment to modernise and digitalise European ATM beyond 2027.

This marks an important milestone: together, we are entering a new phase of cooperation under the SES II+ framework – with the ambition to drive technological development further, expand our scope, and strengthen Europe’s position in building the future of aviation.

LFV’s Director General Ann Persson Grivas underlines:
"This cooperation is crucial for jointly driving technological development forward and ensuring a modern, efficient and sustainable air traffic management."

Our renewed commitment builds on five years of strong partnership within the SESAR Deployment and Infrastructure Partnership (SDIP). Together we have:

  • Enabled €17bn in industry savings and cut 2.5m tons of CO₂ (set to grow to 19m tons by 2035)
  • Mobilised €3bn in ATM modernisation investments across 350+ projects in all EU countries

These achievements show the power of trust, collaboration and co-creation. But the challenges ahead call for even greater efforts. With SES II+, we are ready to reach higher, go further and ensure Europe’s ATM continues to evolve, innovate and perform.

As one team, we are building the future of European aviation.
